Snowdonia Hiking 2024
So, how was our first hiking campaign event?
70 of us set off to climb Mount Snowdon in Snowdonia. Or Eryri National Park to give it its proper name. For all us Noobs, it was a tough day. Cold, rain, wind and soaked to the skin. No scenery beyond the grey fog and clouds. This was not what was sold to us !!
So glad we did Pygs track going up. We had energy and it was adventurous and climbing up is easier. Think we would have lost a few if we had to climb down it. The Revolution members once again showed their character, great camaraderie, helping each other, beginning to end, which for me, is what it’s all about. Revolution never leaves anyone behind!
My sincerest appreciation to our team of volunteers who helped make this event happen with their hard work and self sacrifice. On top we had some heroic effort by some members to take care of others. And of course, the great uptake of the event by the members themselves, their joy, their sense of achievement, makes all this worthwhile. Makes Revolution a success.
Love Luton 2019: Building Community and Supporting Global Causes
“Love Luton 2019” was the inaugural campaign of our organisation, launched to enhance community cohesion and highlight our positive efforts globally. In collaboration with The YMO Trust, which fights child labor, we rallied 102 participants from Luton. These individuals demonstrated community spirit by partaking in various campaign events, thereby boosting local unity.
The campaign was a notable success in fundraising, gathering over £27,000 to combat child labor in developing countries, thus providing children with educational opportunities and safe environments. “Love Luton 2019” was more than a fundraiser; it was a crucial moment for enhancing community engagement. It brought together residents from diverse backgrounds to support a global cause while reinforcing local connections and celebrating Luton’s cultural diversity.
The success of this campaign has set a precedent for future initiatives, underscoring the significant impact of collective community action. Motivated by this triumph, we are more committed than ever to spearhead and support efforts that foster community unity and contribute to global humanitarian causes.
Love Luton 2021: A Resilient Return and Expansion
After a hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we resumed our community initiatives with “Love Luton 2021.” This campaign not only signalled our return to community engagement but also celebrated the launch of the women’s division of Revolution, expanding our outreach.
In collaboration with the YMO Trust, despite challenging weather, Love Luton 2021 saw 201 participants, including 30 women, who faced the adverse conditions to support our cause. The new women’s division provided a platform for more women to engage and assume leadership roles within the community.
Our participants raised £25,000, continuing our support for the YMO Trust’s work against child labor and enhancing educational and welfare programmes for children in developing countries. This underscored our community’s dedication to making a significant impact despite difficulties.
The campaign strengthened community bonds and showcased the resilience and unity of participants, paving the way for the women’s division to flourish. Inspired by this success, we are eager to expand our reach and impact through future campaigns, both locally and globally.
Love Luton 2022: Community Action in Times of Crisis
In 2022, amidst a severe financial crisis and rising food poverty in Luton, our “Love Luton” campaign reasserted its commitment to the community. This year, we partnered with The Luton Foodbank, an essential local organisation combating food insecurity. Our collaboration aimed to both raise funds and increase awareness of the escalating issue of food poverty.
The event inspired 170 dedicated participants to demonstrate their solidarity, showing remarkable spirit despite the economic downturn. Together, we raised £15,000, directly supporting The Luton Foodbank’s efforts to distribute essential food supplies to those in need across Luton.
“Love Luton 2022” also fostered broader community engagement. By uniting with The Luton Foodbank, we addressed immediate needs while promoting long-term solutions to food poverty. The campaign encouraged ongoing community involvement in local food drives and other supportive activities.
The challenges faced in 2022 have only strengthened our resolve to innovate and impact positively. Love Luton has evolved into a beacon of hope and resilience, motivating us to expand our efforts and continue making a real difference in the lives of our fellow citizens.
Love Luton 2023: A Milestone Campaign for Change
“Love Luton 2023” marked an unprecedented milestone for our organisation, achieving our largest and most impactful campaign yet. The community’s enthusiasm was palpable, with registration closing only four days after opening due to the swift filling of all available spots.
On the event day, 270 participants, clad in vibrant purple tops, filled the streets of Luton, bringing an infectious energy and unity to the town. This year, we were delighted to renew our partnership with the YMO Trust, focusing our collaborative efforts on a crucial project in Gambia—digging watering boreholes to provide essential water sources for communities in need.
Our collective efforts raised £35,000, funding the construction of multiple boreholes and significantly impacting water scarcity in Gambia. The success of Love Luton 2023 not only highlights our community’s dedication to global causes but also the powerful local actions that contribute to international relief.
Inspired by this year’s achievements, we are setting new goals for future campaigns, aiming to further engage our community and expand our impact both locally and globally.
